If, in your application you are dynamically creating the gridcontrol (or dynamically creating a user control that contains the grid control),the application cannot automatically add the runtime license for the grid, andthis results in nag screens being displayed on any computer that does not have adevelopment license on it.If this is the case you may refer to follwoingmicrosoft KB article:Else you may use standard packaging wizard likeInstallShield or Package and Deployment to package your application.

ReplyHi GaryThanks for your input on this one.I have run dependency walker on 2 client PCs (one that works and one that doesn't) and the results are comparable. There are definetly different windows DLL versions on the PCs but I cannot see anything obvious. Did you have any particular files in mind that I should check out?Yes the control is fully licensed, I have re-installed and re-registered it yesterday without making any difference.I have had a close look at the install (created using the Packaging and Deployment wizard) and it is not writing licensing information into the registry on one client PC.

But does on another client PC and of course the Nag message only gets displayed on the first one.Do you have any ideas what would be stopping the license being written to the registry?ThanksPaul. So it is allright and correct way to use theversion 7.ocx file.

ReplyHello Paul,You may try copying the folloing files inC:WindowsSystem32 folderXADB8.OCXTODG8.OCXTDBG8.OCXThen use the Regsvr32 utility to manually registerthe above files from System32 folder. Open VB6 and create a sample project thatuses TrueDBGrid and XArrayDB (observe if you get any design time nag screen).
