The Mac OS X version of won't be available until some time after the PC version launches March 5, but it will offer the exact same feature set and cross-platform play will be supported across both versions, developer Maxis announced yesterday.SimCity will be released on Mac this spring. According to an FAQ posted to the SimCity website, the delay exists because the Mac version isn't a port of the PC version — it's being developed natively on Mac. 'Because of this,' Maxis said, 'we want to take the time to ensure that Mac fans will get a version worthy of their platform.' The Mac version of SimCity will have the same features as the Windows PC version, and users on both platforms will be able to play with each other in the same world: both versions share servers. E10+ for Everyone 10 and older. Maxis did not announce full Mac system requirements, but said OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and a Core 2 processor are two of the minimum specifications.Publisher Electronic Arts will only launch SimCity on Mac digitally through Origin, although the standard edition, Limited Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition will still be available to Mac users. The Mac version isn't yet available for pre-order, but EA has released a trailer highlighting the extra content available in the Digital Deluxe Edition: the Paris City Set, German City Set and Great Britain City Set.Each includes a major landmark — the Eiffel Tower, Brandenburg Gate and Big Ben, respectively — along with unique transportation elements: Parisian police cars, German trains and London's red double-decker buses. Putting down those landmarks in your own city will influence its existing buildings, turning them into structures in the style of the respective city.The Digital Deluxe Edition of SimCity is on Windows PC through Origin for $79.99.
